connect to serve
Pendleton Street Baptist Church believes in using our gifts and abilities to serve within our church and in our neighborhood, community, on into the world. Jesus commands in Matthew 28:18-20: And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
PSBC’s service opportunities are always a means to that end:
We exist to glorify God
by making mature disciples of all nations.
If you would like to volunteer for one of our many children’s or youth classes or activities, we would love to have you! We have several opportunities throughout the year, from Sunday morning classes to VBS in the summer to fellowship activities for the youth – there’s something for everyone! Volunteers can help with a number of things, such as games, teaching, music, snacks… if you are gifted in any area with children or youth, give us a call! (All volunteers will have a background check.)
PSBC currently meets for Sunday morning worship and Christian Life Academy classes at the Hilton Greenville. If you would like to help with set-up, ushering, greeting, broadcasting, music, or any of the other facets of Sunday morning worship and classroom activities, please let us know. We’d love to hear from you!
Throughout the year, PSBC will have events for men, women, young and old, from small groups to the entire church family. If you enjoy event planning, hosting a small group, leading a video conference, or any number of activities for fellowship and growth, or outreach into our neighborhood and community, contact the church office to let us know.
Every member of our church family is important to us! PSBC visits our homebound members regularly, and we keep all our church family covered in prayer. Every couple of months, some of our PSBC members get together to make cards and remembrances for our homebound members (the blanket pictured was made by one of our members for Christmas). If you can visit, write postcards, or make a phone call just to let someone know we’re praying for them, please consider being a part of this loving ministry.
Pendleton Street Baptist Church has been involved as a mission partner to the Independent Baptist Church of Masinloc, Zambales, Philippines, and their church plants and partners for many years. We have had yearly mission trips to help with their Vacation Bible School, with construction, and visiting neighbors and surrounding communities.
We have also partnered with local church plants over the years. Currently, we have partnered with Christ the Redeemer Church in Greenville, with Pastor Matt Wireman. We will support them in prayer, by helping with some programs and events, and with donations. Christ the Redeemer Church will keep us informed about their ministry, growth, needs, and prayer requests, and commits to pray with us for our church as well.
Additionally, PSBC participates in Southern Baptist missions, both here and abroad, giving to help fund quality ministries and missions. Every fall, we also participate in Samaritan’s Purse “Operation Christmas Child,” which seeks to give needy children overseas gifts, school supplies, and other needed items, along with the opportunity to learn about Jesus Christ and the gospel.
If your interest is in the local mission field, PSBC hosts the GPS Children’s Program during the school year, where we reach out to children and families in our neighborhood with a weekly time of fun learning about Jesus, music, games and play time.
Please contact the office at 864-232-7312 if you are interested in any of these areas of ministry.
