PSBC Family and Friends,

I pray all of you are doing well through these uncertain days. As of this writing, our Governor has tightened mandated restrictions on businesses, and the City of Greenville is considering even tighter restrictions, in order to limit the spread of the COVID – 19 virus. While I believe these are important steps to take, they bring about difficult changes. Particularly difficult for the church. Even the name “church” is from a Greek word that means “assembly.” There have been other times in the history of the church when, because of diseases or persecution, believers could not gather, and yet the church remained strong and even grew, as a result.

As we work our way through the challenges we currently face, I hope you will keep God’s Word in your mind and heart, when He spoke through Paul. “So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. 17 For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, 18 as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal” (2 Corinthians 4:16-18).

Our leadership team is closely and prayerfully monitoring the situation and we are making plans to reduce the risk to our members, visitors, staff, and the surrounding area, while continuing to fulfill our mission of Glorifying God by Making Mature Disciples of All Nations.

  • Our April schedule will be the same as for March, with online worship only and most other church ministries, programs and activities cancelled. GPS and home groups have moved to an online format. As the Coronavirus situation worsens (the peak contagion is expected later this month), we feel that this schedule needs to be maintained.
  • Easter worship service will be online only. We have explored options for public worship, but with the increased restrictions in the city, we couldn’t find a way forward. Easter is the most important day on our calendar as believers, but this year we will celebrate the resurrection of Jesus in our homes.
  • We are receiving and sharing prayer requests online. To share requests, or to be added to our prayer email, please use the prayer request form at or email us directly at
  • We are continuing to prepare the Arlington Ave. building for church offices and weekday ministry. There are still tasks to be finished, but we are moving forward with preparing a location to connect with each other and with the West End community.

God is in control, He is good, and He is working. As His people, trusting in Him daily, “we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who have faith and preserve their souls.” I am glad to be counted with you and look forward to seeing you all again soon.

A message from the Financial Secretary

As we adjust our lives to the difficulties we are facing, I would like to reach out to the members of our church.

Nearly every church in the United States is moving its operations online and offsite.  I have also temporarily set up my office in my home.  Receiving donations, processing payments to our vendors, and maintaining all financial aspects of PSBC will continue as normal.

Your financial gifts make ministry possible.   If you have a donation you would like to make, I encourage you to give online.  This process allows your offering to streamline to your choice of giving and is safer and more secure than writing and mailing a check.  If you have access to the internet or to a smart phone, you can give online.  To do this here are a few options:

Go to our website:
On our main webpage, click the “Planning Center Giving” button and it will take you to a secure website that manages our online giving. You can give one time or set up recurring gifts.

If you want to use your smart phone you can give by text:

Of course, if you don’t have the internet or a smart phone, you can mail your offering to the church:

Greenville, SC, 29602

In regard to our financial standing, rest assured that we are blessed to have the faithful Leadership Team that continues to manage the church’s assets.  Pendleton Street Baptist Church has been blessed with a generous congregation through the years and this has afforded PSBC opportunities few small churches could provide.

These difficult times will give us challenges we have never faced.  PSBC members are faithful followers of Christ and I have faith that with the help of the Lord, we will come out the other side of this even stronger in our faith.

Thank you for your financial support as well as your prayer support.

Connect to Grow

God loves people! He established the church in order that people can experience growth and transformation, and much of our growth comes from authentic relationships. Our home groups will continue through apps like Zoom and FaceTime. If you would like to participate, contact the church office at 864-232-7312 and we will gladly connect you with a home group leader for information.

Colossians 1:28
Him we proclaim, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, that we may present everyone mature in Christ.

Connect to Serve

If you would like to serve as a greeter, on the set-up team, with our Children’s Ministry (Sunday mornings or the Children’s midweek GPS program), the new audio/video crew, or any other area of ministry within Pendleton Street Baptist Church, please contact the church office at 864-232-7312 or see one of our ministry leaders for more information.

Delivering GPS materials and “goodies” in the West End of Greenville

GPS Children’s Program

(The Gospel Project for Students)

For kids age 3 to 8th grade

We have taken GPS from the West End Center and pushed everything up to our new YouTube recordings.  We continue making contact each week with the children who have been attending most recently, providing them with weekly lessons and encouraging them to allow time for GPS via video each week (and maybe a replay during the week)! We pray for the children, their families and their salvation.  We believe God has a special work to accomplish this season and we are exploring how we are to obedient!  The fact that we have been able to get almost 100% of our GPS leadership to upload a personal video, that is integrated with our weekly videos,  demonstrates not only how technically savvy our leaders are (we are all learning!), but more importantly their love, passion and willingness to share the gospel won’t be hindered by a virus!
