June 2021 PSBC Connections
Men’s Retreat at Devils Fork State Park, Lake Jocassee
On May 13-15, the men of Pendleton Street Baptist Church were able to enjoy a few days at Devils Fork State Park. As we studied AW Tozer’s book, The Pursuit of God, we explored what it means to crucify ourselves and make Christ our sole possession. We discussed what that looks like as husbands, fathers, brothers, sons, and men of the church.
As iron sharpens iron, we had a wonderful time of fellowship as well. We were able to explore beautiful Lake Jocassee by both boat and kayaks, along with simply sitting around the campfire enjoying one another. And of course we ate excellent food!
Thank you all so much for your prayers! These types of things would not be possible without a faithful congregation who helps by contributing to our men’s ministry.

Showing Others Who We Belong to by Loving One Another
We have met with the City staff and submitted our site plan for their review and input, in preparation for our hearing before the Board of Zoning Appeals. We have been placed on the agenda for their June 10th meeting, and the “Public Hearing” signs are posted on our property. All of this is to move us forward by seeking a special exemption to the RM-1 zoning. If approved by the BZA, we will then have the way cleared to use the site for our church building. Our prayer is that God will grant us favor with the BZA and the City, and will pave the way for us to return to the West End.
Marty Price, Pastor
Thank you for participating in the focus group discussions and the surveys. I am continually amazed at how God has blessed us with such a variety of gifts and talents, and how He is using us to make disciples who follow Him. The Preparation 2021 team is preparing a report for the congregation, which will summarize and explore our findings from the last two months’ work. We are prayerfully seeking to answer the question, “What is God’s unique purpose for PSBC?” and to lay out steps to accomplish His purpose for us. We will be meeting together as a church family throughout the summer to pray, discuss and plan for the future He has for us.
